HID HEADLIGHTS

While working on a project at work, I stumbled across a product from one of our vendors (JWSpeaker) sold us.
JWspeaker designed and builds complete bolt-in HID headlight kits for motorcycles HID motorcycle headlight
After talking with one of JWSpeaker's sales rep, we struck a deal where I could aquire two sets of motorcyle
headlight kits and all the necessary components to make them work.
I knew that these lights were NOT going to be a plug and play set-up but I was up for the challenge.
The following pictures will depict a short series of events to installing these awesome HID Headlights.

First, the original headlight mounts needed to be modifed to clear the extra depth due to the light bult starter,
and high beam halogen harness connector. The extra depth of the HID housing can be seen in the seventh picture.

The next few pictures show what needed to be modified on the radiator support in order to allow the housing to clear.

After the mockup and fabrication was done, the parts were sandblasted and painted to look factory.
The headlight mounting ring (shown in the first picture below) was supplied by JWspeaker, this ring is needed in order to get the headlight adjusted correctly

Since the HID ballasts each draw 20amps at start-up, it was a no brainer to run relays for each ballast.
I wanted to hide as much of the HID components as possible, this should give it a clean look without a bunch of wires laying around.
I found a good location under the RH front fender to locate the RH ballast and relays.
As you can see, the ballast and relays fit nicely up under the fender. I ran 30amp fuses for each ballast to protect from failure.
The LH ballast was a bit more tricky to "hide" I opted to mount it where it's shown, oh well at least it doesn't look horrible

Here are some shots showing what it looks like complete.
These lights are cool, the starters give a slight humming noise at start-up but slowly disapear as they warm up.
